balloon

Life is exciting. I spotted this balloon during a walk in my neighborhood and I had to shoot it right away. Seeing it fly further away looked beautiful...

two of my favorite shots...

The more and more I scan, the more and more excited I get... its like being a kid in a candystore! Some of these shots have never been scanned before so its great to take a look at things a second time around.

The Roots

This shot felt like my first real picture. I went out and got exactly what I wanted; raw life.
I was nervous when I first began shooting at my local barbershop but little by little, the place forgot that i existed. The barbershop closed down a couple of years later.

Before Katrina

So I just started a new project and it involves scanning all of my negatives. The scanning part is not the fun part but seeing all of these negatives come to life again makes it worth it. A lot of my negatives are scratched but the scratchy look in some cases (like in the new orleans series) gives it a sort of lost & old quality. The sad thing about these New Orleans pictures is that they were taken a week before Katrina arrived so now I wonder about this cemetary...

New York on a rainy day...

The New York Port Authority is the most interesting place in the world because there is this never-ending hustle and bustle on any given day or night. I was just standing on the corner waiting for a friend to pick me up and I was able to see so much in less than 20 minutes.

Observations II

This train series took place in Vienna. The subject in this case was the woman sitting across from me, a beautiful older German woman. I was drawn to her instantly and loved all of her gestures.

Observations

The amazing thing about any cell phone nowadays is that you can shoot on location or secretly in my case. I love shooting people and the way they behave in open public spaces. In this series, I was focused on the punk couple who were grooming themselves & kissing throughout the train ride.

Newark Block Party

I have always been fascinated with polaroids and this project just started with an iphone application. I was never gonna show anyone any of these photos but that all changed when I shot a block party in Newark, NJ. ( Mayor Cory Booker sponsored this party and is pictured in many of these pics)
