Hi, from Gina!

I met Nidia, in May of 2008 when I started working at PropHaus. It took us a while to warm up to each other, but once we did it was like fireworks and funfetti cupcakes. We talked a lot about art and our previous jobs in the art world. We spent much time daydreaming about fun hypothetical art projects or ideal careers. I was always telling Nidia about my latest drawings and she always knew about good shows that were going on. One day in the middle of winter when we were feeling really low and like we needed some true inspiration, we decided to DO something about it. We wanted to create a fun art space where I would make drawings and Nidia would be in charge. Nidia immediately thought of her other friend Johann, an amazing artist, and we knew that with two artists we could REALLY make this happen. After a lot of brainstorming, drawing, location scouting and minutia discussing, we are finally only one month away from our show!

Los Artistas....

About the artists... (two for now)...

Gina Mauro is a pretty amazing illustrator... we met at work and she showed me her website and I became a fan instantly...(not only as an illustrator but her overall creativity as an artist).. I think i liked the fact that she was able to branch and create art at different levels... she just doesn't stick to just one style... i find that refreshing...

Johann Mittnacht is a old old friend of mine... he started as a industrial designer but has bloomed into an illustrator as well... again, this is another person that can mold and mold and mold into so many different things but still keep a certain style...

I feel very passionate about these two individuals... they have a lot to offer in the art world and i think people should see their work... :)

by the way, i am the worst writer but whatever..

A little about me...

So let me tell you about my thoughts....

I have always been a lover of art (from photography, paint, sculpture, illustration...to street art) and has always been drawn to amazing individuals who create it...

In the past years, I have worked in many interesting places ranging from museum installations, art buying, photographer's assistant to working in a prop company. I have met a lot of repulsive, funny, sarcastic, sweet and clueless people but have always kept my visual stimulation active.

My visual stimulation has driven me to research/find/search for new art. I am not a know it all nor do i care to know every little thing about the art world ... the only thing that I know how to do well "is talk the talk and know when something is good"... this is the first time that I am opening myself up about my crazy ideas...
